- Admission for fall semester: January 10 (classes begin in August)
- Admission for spring semester: July 1 (classes begin in early January).
- Meeting these deadlines allow you the best opportunity for admission and ensure consideration for all financial aid opportunities.
- NOTE: Admission after these deadlines will be possible on a space available basis.
- GRE and/or TOEFL scores must be received by these deadlines.

Graduate School
To complete the application to Graduate School at WSU you will need the following items (http://www.graduateschool.wsu.edu/howtoapply.htm):
- Current and permanent address
- Date and place of birth
- Residency information
- Name and location of all colleges and universities and the dates of attendance
- All degrees earned, or expected to be earned and the dates
- Former WSU ID number if applicable
- Names, addresses, positions, and email addresses of three references (for letters of recommendation)
- Visa or MasterCard number and expiration date (for the $50 application fee).
- Race/ethnicity and disability information (optional)

Step 2. Supplemental Animal Sciences Application Form
The Supplemental Animal Sciences Application form is designed to give the Animal Sciences faculty more information about you, your goals, experiences, and the faculty with whom you wish to work.
2.1 Faculty research interests. To determine the faculty members you have interest in working with, please browse the faculty interest pages on the Animal Sciences website (http://www.ansci.wsu.edu/Research/research.asp).
2.2 Letter of application. The letter of application portion of this form is one of the most important documents you will submit as part of your application to Animal Sciences. The faculty and the departmental Graduate Committee read this statement carefully. The letter should describe your career goals, your goals and objectives for graduate school, any research and teaching experience you have had, any livestock handling experience, and any other information you wish the faculty to have to make an informed decision about admission to the Animal Sciences graduate program.
You will receive an email confirming the receipt of the Supplemental Animal Sciences Application Form after we have reviewed it for completeness.
Step 3. Test Scores and Transcripts
3.1 Tests. The Department of Animal Sciences requires all students to take the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) and all international students to take the TOEFL or IELTS tests. Scores must be sent directly to WSU from ETS.

- Official TOEFL or IELTS scores (WSU is institution code 4705).
3.2 Transcripts. Please have official transcripts sent from all colleges or universities that you have attended (http://www.graduateschool.wsu.edu/howtoapply.htm). Official transcripts are those that are sent directly from the school to WSU. (We have provided a transcript request form that you may use. Note: some institutions require you to use their transcript request form.). WSU undergraduates do not need to send WSU transcripts.

Step 4. Admission decisions
- Graduate School: You must meet the minimum qualifications of the Graduate School (http://www.graduateschool.wsu.edu/howtoapply.htm).
- Department of Animal Sciences: The departmental Graduate Committee, faculty members that you have identified on the Supplemental Animal Sciences Application, and the Department Chair, review your file. Applications will be reviewed as they are completed and admission decisions made on a rolling basis.
- Note: Admission is not a guarantee of financial support.
- Types of funding: teaching or research assistantships.
- Awards based on: academic credentials, subject matter knowledge, communication skills, and availability of funds.
- The Graduate Committee reviews the pool of applicants, makes recommendations to the Chair
- Evaluation of applications and recommendations for funding will begin approximately January 15 and these decisions will continue until all assistantships are assigned. Therefore, to be able to be considered for support, please have your entire application packet complete by January 10.

4.3 After admission. After you are admitted the Graduate School will send you information regarding housing options and the local area. Additionally, information regarding new graduate student orientation, "Getting Connected" will be available on the web.
