included) that has not been discussed in class or in the
text or Manual Mendelian traits. You can not use human blood groups, sickle cell, HYPP, CIDS, polydactyly Requirements: Paragraph briefly describing the trait. The focus of the discussion should be on the genetic mechanism, not the physiology of the trait. Show the genotypes and associated phenotypes. Indicate the type of gene action. You may need to make up some symbols for alleles. A compete reference where more information can be found. Must include: Author, title of article, title of magazine or journal, date, pages. |

| 3 | Pick a current topic in genetics that is important to you or that you know about. You must show that this is a current topic by dating your source to the last 2 months. Write a 2-page paper describing this topic and why it is important and why it is relevant to you. You should use the Internet, newspapers, magazines, scientific journals, etc. to get information on the topic. At the end of your paper give citations for your sources of information. At least one source of material is required. Papers must be done on a word processor, 12 pt. font, 1-inch margins and double-spaced.
