REPRODUCTIVE ENDOCRINOLOGY. Our present research involves studies immunizing cattle against LHRH to control reproduction. We have genetically-engineered vaccines that are LHRH fusion proteins which are being evaluated in heifers and bulls as a means of immunocastration. We are presently evaluating long lasting carriers and adjuvants which will allow easy and effective use of this vaccine in the cattle industry. Our goals are to develop new basic concepts into tools for use by the cattle industry.
Specific Research Areas:
- Immunization against hormones to sterilize heifers and bulls.
- Evaluation of carriers and dosages for optimal effects in cattle.
